We can't think of a single reason why you shouldn't "Walk in and ride out" and become - a Fishbiker. As a Fishbike customer, you can rent one of our many bicycles and explore everything that beautiful Hawke's Bay has to offer. On this site you can read about cycling packages that we have for our Fishbikers. We invite you to rent a bike and be independent or purchase a cycling package in the absolute certainty that we provide great value for money that translates into hours of fun. We know this because so many Fishbikers come back for more Hawke's Bay exploring by bicycle. Many Fishbikers send along their friends and family to enjoy the Fishbike experience as well.
You'll find our Fishbike Shed on the Marine Parade in Napier. Located in the Pacific Surf Life Saving facility right on the beach and right on the 187km Hawke's Bay Trail.
Thanks to the efforts of Hawke’s Bay Rotary clubs, local and regional councils, and the Nga Haerenga / New Zealand Cycle Trail people we all have access to this wonderful trail. Few regions in New Zealand are fortunate enough to have such an extensive off-road cycling facility.
We recommend you purchase a new book to be published in November 2012 Hawke's Bay's Best Bike Rides - by the Kennett Brothers. Extensive coverage with pictures of the Hawke's Bay Trail.
Hawke's Bay- in short, it’s provincial New Zealand, with a tremendous climate, a strong horticultural and agricultural economy, and it's located on the East Coast of the North Island - an hour’s flight from Auckland and slightly less from Wellington. By car it's just over four hours drive from Wellington and around six hours drive from Auckland. Coming from Rotorua international Airport, you can expect to be on the road for three hours, while a quick 90 minutes drive will see you arriving here from Taupo.
Two small urban areas make up the bulk of the Hawke's Bay population of 154,800. Hastings District (not on the Coast) population 74,300, and Napier City (on the Coast) population 57 600.
The climate is dry and temperate. The summers are tremendous. (That’s a Fishbike interpretation.) Winters are cool.
The area is noted for food and wine, excellent fresh fruit and veges. Most importantly, the area is noted for excellent off-road cycling. Cycle to taste the wine, taste a great coffee. Experience the delightful Pacific Ocean and views of Cape Kidnappers; explore wetlands and protected estuaries by bicycle. Others would say the area is noted for Art Deco architecture - the Napier City leaders would have you believe Napier is the Art Deco Capital of the World, rent a Fishbike and decide for yourself.
Let's be really honest about the area: From a cycling perspectives the Hawke’s Bay Trails are 90% flat, easy grade, that’s a bonus.
